Lincolnshire boy raises £1,000 by walking 8 miles for Greenfingers despite personal challenges

George Ridpath - the inspirational son of Lincolnshire-based podcaster and gardener, Marc Ridpath (@gardenriddler) - recently embarked on an extraordinary 8-mile charity walk, raising an incredible £1,000 charity.

George, who lives with autism and cerebral palsy, faces daily physical challenges. His condition affects the entire right side of his body, limiting the use of his right arm and weakening his right leg. Despite these difficulties, George was determined to complete the walk, which took nearly five hours, all in support of a cause that is close to his family’s heart - Greenfingers Charity.

George was joined by his father, Marc, who pushed a wheelbarrow throughout the walk, offering a uniquely fitting mode of transport should George need to rest along the way. The walk started in Harby Park, Newark and took in the beautiful Lincolnshire countryside before George conquered Lincoln’s notorious Steep Hill up to the Cathedral Quarter and the finishing line at Lincoln Castle.

To date, George has already raised an impressive £1,000 but is hopeful that the community will rally behind him to further boost his fundraising efforts for this incredible cause. Having completed this incredible challenge, he’s calling on local residents, businesses, the wider community to give his fundraising one final boost having completed this incredible challenge.
