We’re pleased to announce that one of our most successful fundraising schemes ‘Turn Old Into Gold’ will continue throughout the new year thanks to the fantastic support we have received from throughout the industry to date.
Turn Old Into Gold is an ongoing scheme through which industry suppliers are encouraged to donate old or unwanted stock to be sold at auction with proceeds going to Greenfingers Charity.
Last year industry supporters including Wyevale Nurseries, Scotts Miracle Grow, and Jigsaw Marketing supported the scheme and helped to raise valuable funds for the charity.
Gardman also continued their brilliant support of Greenfingers by getting behind the scheme, raising nearly £6000 for the Charity in some of the most successful sales to date! Their donations included a variety of products including everything from pets accessories to bin bags proving that all types donations can help to make a real difference to Greenfingers Charity.
Turn Old Into Gold would not be possible without the continued support of W & H Peacock who do a fantastic job at auctioning the products on behalf of the charity along with Decco who provide the transport logistics of many of the donations.
Looking ahead we’re hoping that the contributions and support we have already received from throughout the industry will inspire others to turn old into gold for Greenfingers.
Head of Fundraising, Linda Petrons commented: “We are extremely grateful to all of our supporters who have got behind the scheme. The simple act of getting rid of unwanted or leftover stock and products has a very tangible benefit for us as recent auctions have shown. We hope others will also think of us and give us a call whenever they have unwanted items and remember your trash is our treasure!”
All funds raised through the Turn Old into Gold scheme will contribute to Greenfingers A Million Moments appeal. The appeal, which launched in July 2015, aims to raise £1 million to help provide gardens for at least a further 5,000 children who spend time in hospices around the UK.
With garden builds currently in progress at Helen & Douglas House, Oxford and Grace House, Sunderland, and a number of upcoming garden projects on the cards this year, the funds raised through schemes like Turn Old Into Gold are as important as ever in allowing Greenfingers to provide the gift of a garden to children and families facing difficult times.
If you have unwanted stock that you wish to donate to the scheme, please call Greenfingers on 01494 674749 or email the Greenfingers fundraising team directly via melanie@greenfingerscharity.org.uk. For most items, Greenfingers can arrange transportation of the stock via Decco, Greenfingers partner for this initiative.
